Madeline's time with Q Bear

Last week Madeleine took Q Bear home.  Here's what she had to say about her time with Q Bear:

Me and Q Bear went to the library and gave the library cookies.  We also came back from school and I took Q Bear out of his backpack.  I put Q Bear in my little brother's seatbelt so he is safe.  He looked cute in my little brother's seat.

I let him sleep in my little sheep blanket.  My mom took a picture of Q Bear holding the cookies.  I also did laundry with Q Bear.  My mom also took a picture of Q Bear holding my pants that I was folding.

Q Bear came out with me into my backyard.  He watched me assemble my gingerbread house.  Q Bear was there when I did my homework too.  Q Bear slept next to me and he made me feel warm and safe.

Hour of Code

We had a great time coding today!  We got to program BB-8 in a Star Wars coding game with the help of some awesome 4th graders.

After that, we got to program special robots called BeeBots!

Run, run, as fast as you can...

...we found the Gingerbread Man!

We first saw him when he ran into the computer lab and surprised us.

When we came back to our classroom, we found a clue!  He hid clues in almost all the classrooms.  After searching the whole school, we found him in Mrs. Kloczko's office!

We had a fantastic time searching for you Gingerbread Man!

We had an awesome conclusion to career month this week!

Sophie's mom talked to us about being a scientist and then showed us how to transfer bacteria from our hands onto growth plates.

Henry's grandpa told us about being a firefighter.  He even let us try on his helmet!

Carson's dad talked to us about being a police officer.  Everyone got their own police badge!

To close out career month, Mr. Chris told us about teaching science.  He taught us about the states of matter and then we got to do some fun experiments with dry ice.  Pretty awesome!

Thank you to everyone who participated in career month!  We sure learned a lot about community helpers!

Q Bear visits Defne

Last week Q Bear got to go home with Defne.  Here's what Defne had to say about her time with Q Bear.

I got Q Bear and we finished my homework together.

We were outside a lot. It was cold, I gave him my old jacket so he was warm and cozy.  I buckled Q Bear with my seat belt all the time so he is safe.

We went to IKEA to buy furniture for our new house. He choose a bed for me and loved eating french fries.

After we had to go to Krispy Kreme because Q Bear told me he wants something sweet like donuts.

We went to petting zoo.  Q Bear had never seen a donkey before.  He was surprised. We fed ducks and geese. After that we went to park and my sister helped him swing. 

We went on a kids train to see Santa Claus and Mrs Claus. He was afraid so I held him tight. 

Q bear asked Santa to be with his family for Christmas so we invited his family and made him a surprise party at night and we played.

Career Month Continues!

We had another great week of career month!

Jovie's mom came in and talked to us about being a music teacher.  She even taught us a song!

Ayden's dad told us about being a chef.  Then he taught us how to cut apples.  We got to eat them with caramel sauce that he made.  Yum!

Sam's mom talked to us about being on the juvenile parole board.  She discussed how she decides whether people have learned how to make good decisions and can leave jail.

My dad taught us about being a software designer.  We got to write short programs to help the flurb get to the cookie jar.

Thanks career month volunteers!  We had a great time!

Learning About Hanukkah

Our class is very familiar with Christmas, but very few of us know about other winter holidays.  Today, Sam's mom taught us a little bit about Hanukkah.  She showed us how to light a menorah and then we learned how to play dreidel.  We had a great time!
