Guest blogger Noah - Noah and Q Bear

I read Panda book with him.  I read another book.  A different Panda book.  And he saw him going far away, I was playing with a good kid.  He saw me pick up the baseball catch.  I hit the ball.  And I was eating and he saw me eat with me.  And we went to the park with me.  I let him hold my hand for a little bit because so I could swing because it's hard sometimes.  He saw me walk to go over there. And I grabbed him so I could hug him for a little bit.  I took him to the baseball game to watch me play baseball.  I'm going to sleep with him tonight and in the morning I can play with him.  And I get to eat with him in the morning with my oatmeal.  I played cars with him.

Guest blogger Olivia - Olivia and Q Bear

I brought him home and introduced Q Bear to all my bear friends.  We had a snack together.  Then he went for a stroll.  Then he went down the slide.  Then we went swimming.  Then I brushed his fur.  Then he rode Shasta, my horse.  We cuddled on the chair and watched a cartoon.  Then we ate dinner.  Then we went to bed and Q Bear slept in his own bed.  In the morning he helped me with my sight words.  I had a great time with him.  The end!

Guest blogger Clementine - Q Bear Visits Clementine's House

First, I introduced Q Bear to my little brother Felix.  He doesn't like me to call him my baby brother.  My brother went to sleep and Q Bear cuddled him a lot.

Then I showed him my ice cream.  And then we went to Girl Scouts.  We tried "Thanks a lot" cookies.  They say "thanks a lot" in five different languages and I got the one that says "Gracias."  We colored at Girl Scouts.  And then we went back home and had a second dinner.  And that was it.

And then we read stories and then we went to bed.  We read Ramona's World and we also read Little Blue Truck.  Q Bear had lots of fun.  Oh and don't forget before Girl Scouts we read his book about his vacation.

2018 Q Bear Sample Blog Post

Starting this week, each student will get a chance to take our class bear, Q Bear, home for a night.  After each student takes him home, he/she get to write a blog post about their time together.  Q Bear came home with me this weekend, and I wrote a blog post all about it:

When Q Bear and I got home, we went for a walk.  Then we relaxed on the couch.  We decided to watch a little bit of TV.

After that, Q Bear and I made dinner.  We made minestrone soup in the crock pot.  Q Bear really liked stirring the soup.

After dinner, Q Bear helped me do some laundry.  He wanted to go for a swim in the washing machine, but I wouldn't let him.

After doing laundry, Q Bear and I decided to do some reading before bed.  It was so relaxing!

Finally it was time for bed.  Q Bear and I had a great day together!

November and December Update

It's been another busy two months in kindergarten!  Check out what we've been up to:

In November we held our first kindergarten performance!  Students demonstrated their hard work by performing several songs and chants from their previous GLAD units.

We also finished our math unit on the numbers 0-20.  We celebrated with some fun review games and centers.

In ELA we've been working hard at building our independent reading and writing stamina.  We also developed a writing checklist as a class.  We're becoming such strong readers and writers!

In SEL, we talked about the differences between "big deal problems" and "little deal problems."  This helped us review the differences between tattling and reporting.  We also got to participate in the Kind Kids Club with Ms. Hines!  We learned all about ways to show kindness at school, at home, and in the community.  We even made get-well cards for students who have to go home from school because they're sick.

In social studies, we learned all about the similarities and differences between long ago and today.  We even made butter the old-fashioned way--with a lot of shaking and teamwork!

Our next GLAD unit focused on winter.  We talked about the weather during winter, appropriate clothing for winter, and fun activities that we do in winter.  We even made snow!

Our next GLAD unit was all about gingerbread!  We read tons of different versions of The Gingerbread Man.  We even wrote our own class version!  We compared and contrasted the gingerbread man to a Star Academy student, wrote all about gingerbread cookies, laced giant gingerbread cookies with our 5th grade buddies, and built and decorated gingerbread houses with our families.

We had so much fun in November and December--stay tuned for more fun, learning, and growth in 2018!
