At the beginning of January we went ice skating! We had a great time trying something new.
In ELA, we met our reading stamina goals, so we earned the privilege to use reading lights!
In ELA we've also been working on opinion writing. Most recently we completed a week-long Green Eggs and Ham opinion writing project. We wrote predictions about whether or not we would like green eggs and ham, tried green eggs and ham, graphed our results, and then wrote about our final opinions.
In SEL, we focused on mindfulness. We made a class feeling thermometer and then our own individual feeling thermometers.
In GLAD we learned about American legends and American symbols. We're getting ready for first grade by practicing completing GLAD tasks independently (like adding smart cards and making our own pictorials).
In math we celebrated the 100th day of school! Students and teachers dressed up like they were 100 years old and then we did lots of fun 100-themed activities.
In math we've also been working on addition and subtraction within ten. We've practiced using many different strategies and even learned several math games.
Finally, it was Global School Play Day! We got to play with new toys and new friends ALL DAY!
January and February flew by! Stay tuned to see what we're learning about in the coming months!
