Kara and Q Bear

Kara got to take Q Bear home yesterday!  Here's what she had to say about their time together:

Today I’m so happy I got to take Q Bear home with me. Q Bear and I were tired from school so we took a quick nap. Then we woke up and watch Pokemon on tv. We did homework together at the computer. I read the Q Bear’s Hawaiian Vacation book to Q Bear before going to bed.

Sahib and Q Bear

Sahib got to take Q Bear home yesterday. Here's what he had to say about their time together:

The teacher showed us the Q bear at the school today. She told me that it is my day to keep Q bear home. I put it next to my bag pack. I was happy because I like bears. I loved the shirt and the shorts Q bear was wearing. I came home with Q bear backpack and his book. I did play fighting with Q bear and my T rex. Then Q bear and I watched SpongeBob Square Pants movie on Netflix. My sister Rhea loved Q bear and carried it around the house. I read a book to Q bear that is about him. I found his tail under his shirt.

I went to park with my mom and Q bear. Q bear went on the slides and swings. We had a lot of fun.

Q Bear and I had cheese pizza with ranch for dinner.

I said goodnight to everyone and went to sleep.  Q Bear was also sleeping on my bed.

Maehar and Q Bear

Maehar got to take Q Bear home yesterday. Here's what he had to say about their time together

Today I'm so happy. I got chance to take Q Bear home with me. We had allot of fun today. I took Q Bear out for a ride on my toy jeep. We went to the park, played soccer and did lot of other fun things at the park. It was so much fun playing with Q Bear. We came back home and had dinner. I wish I will take Q Bear home again soon.

Measuring the Classroom

Today we started our measurement unit.  Students will be measuring all kinds of things in our classroom this week using non-standard units like unifix cubes and plastic rings.

Special Guests

Mr. Chris brought some special guests to class today--hissing cockroaches and stick bugs!  We learned about them, observed them, and even got to hold them!

What's going on in class this week?

We're getting closer to the end of the year, but we're not slowing down just yet!  Here's an update about what's been happening this week.

Some reading groups started book circles!  Students worked together in pairs to read, discuss, and respond to a selection of text.

We also did an insect-themed team task.  Students worked together to draw and label a beetle.

We also started a unit on 3D shapes.  Here students are building various 3D shapes with popsicle sticks and playdough.

We're definitely almost ready for first grade!

Q Bear and Gino

Gino got to take Q Bear home yesterday. Here's what he had to say about their time together:

Today was an awesome day! My dad picked me up and said, "Hey, who's backpack is that?" I said it was Q Bear's, and he's coming home with us! We picked up my older brother from school and he too was curious to see Q Bear. Then we had to go to the store, it was boring, my brother, Q Bear and me were starving! When got home and had a snack and some popcorn!

I introduced him to all my bears friends; Blue Bear, Deli, Marshmellow, Fish, Fish Jr., Cool Bear, Panda, Brown Bear, Baby Bear, Butterscotch, Snowflake and Snowball. He enjoyed all of them.

We then decided to go on a bike ride. We crossed a bridge and watched a little league baseball game. We saw some friends, ran around and played and Q Bear found a ball! When we got home we showered up and ate dinner. We had BBQ chicken and some salad, but Q Bears favorite was the ice cream, mine too! We then drew some Bear heads and soon after we had to brush our teeth. We then got tidy up for bed and my Mommy read Q Bears book as we were both sleepy. I made a bed for him and lights out, it was bedtime.
