Team Building Challenge

We had our first team building challenge today!  Students were given 10 pipecleaners and were asked to build the tallest, free-standing tower that they could.

First we had some silent, independent planning time:

After that, we shared our plans and agreed on a team plan.  Some teams even chose to compromise and combine their ideas!

Then it was time to build!

We built some awesome structures!

Ella and Q Bear

Ethan and Q Bear

Q Bear got to go home with Ethan yesterday. Here's what Ethan had to say about their time together:

Q Bear had a fun day with us! When we first got home I took him to my room and we played with legos. Then it was time to pick up my sister from school. When we got back I had to do my homework and Q Bear helped! He's really smart. After we finished, I read Q Bear a story and we played Clue. Q Bear won. We got to watch TV while my mom cooked dinner. Q Bear finished all of his food and got a treat! After dinner my mom told me to get my pajamas on. I put my jammies on and I gave Q Bear some of mine to wear to bed. Me and my sister and Q Bear played with our puppy Albie before bed time. Q Bear watched Phineas and Ferb with me this morning and ate pancakes for breakfast. Then we had to get dressed and ready for school. I can't wait to play with Q Bear again!

Brielle and Q Bear

Brielle got to take Q Bear home this week. Here's what she had to say about their time together:

The first place I took Q Bear to was to my grandparents house. There Q Bear and I drew pictures with my grandpa and waited for my sister to get home from school. When my sister got home from so school we played lots of games with Q Bear it was so fun.

Later in the day Q Bear helped me and my sister with our homework, he was a big help with my punctuation writing. When it was dinner time Q Bear eat spaghetti with us, I think that is his favorite food. After dinner, Q bear and I were really tired so we fell asleep and my puppies joined us to keep us warm.

When I woke up the next morning Q Bear helped me get ready for school. He is such a helpful bear and I really liked playing with him, I wish we could have played longer.

Anika and Q Bear

Anika got to take Q Bear home yesterday. Here's what she had to say about their time together:

First I gave Q bear a beginning piano lesson, but he had a hard time with the difference between quarter and half notes. Then we did homework together, and he was a big help with the story problem page. I used my fort kit to make him a house, and I showed him how the pieces fit together. Finally, turned on a show and we ate some dinner. Then it was bed time and we listened to a story. We fell asleep to some quite music playing.

Our Dr. Seuss unit continues...

Today we made green eggs and ham!  Some of us liked it, some of us didn't, and some of us didn't even want to try it, but we definitely had fun!

Carson and Q Bear

Q Bear went home with Carson earlier this week. Here's what Carson had to say about their time together:

Q Bear rode home with me in the car. I played with him and we watched TV. I picked oranges with Q Bear from my orange tree. He liked picking oranges. Q Bear went to swim clinic with me and he put on my goggles. He looked funny. We had dinner and went to bed. I gave Q Bear a waffle for breakfast and read his book. We had to go to school. I liked playing with Q Bear, but it wasn't a long time.
